I am using Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Windows 7 to edit several thousand clips in to 10 second chunks, which I am then exporting through Media Encoder.
As I have so many, I am trying to queue as many clips as possible, before I start the export process.
The problem I am having is that after about 100 clips, Media Encoder is using so much RAM, that Windows has to shut it down. I have 16GB of RAM and this usually occurs when Media Encoder is using about 14.5GB.
I understand that with each clip it comes to, Media Encoder opens a PProHeadless.exe process to complete that export. What I don't get is why it doesn't stop that process once it has finished encoding - what is happening is that I am getting a buildup of PProHeadless.exe processes, each one taking a small amount of RAM and holding on to it, even though the process is finished. I can end individual PProHeadless.exe processes (in task manager) to free up RAM, so the computer doesn't come to a grinding halt, but I shouldn't have to do that.
Is there something obvious I am missing to get these processes to automatically end, once a particular clip has finished exporting?
I have also set Media Encoder to only use 10GB RAM, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Does anyone know if it is possible to get these PProHeadless.exe processes to end automatically?
Cheers,
Henry
