Media Encoder Presets = much tearing in .mp4

Firstly, I have been making quicktimes on a mac for 15 years. I have made mp4s with Handbrake and Streamclip. (I used to use x264 from Streamclip so as to set the gamma atom properly, but had issues with stuttering..) I never used Compressor as it didn't do what it was told.

Because Apple stopped making professional computers, and keep sabotaging existing workstations, I have moved to a Z820.

this has been mostly painless. But Quicktime seems to have never been made to work on 64bit OS (W7Pro)

I also work freelance on many different machines.

Recently I have come across a bug and I cannot figure out how to fix it.

I finally started using Media Encoder about a year ago, when I realised it wasn't Compressor and you could nake it actually work properly.

I have been using Media Encoder 1080p mp4 presets (Vimeo / iPad etc. so 5000kbps) and they usually work. but recently I have been getting AMAZING blocky tearing with light grey graphics.

BUT it plays fine in some players. It is terrible in Quicktime on a PC. It is sometimes fine in Quicktime X on newwer macs

They look like they are suddenly very low bit rate.

I have tried reducing the key frame distance to no avail.

I am resorting to Apple's quicktime Export set to Auto Keyframes - high,  as this always works but it takes HOURS

I really want to use The k5000 to make h264 .mp4s as it is SOO fast

First thoughts

1. It may be GPU rendering issue from Media Encoder with k5000 latest W7 drivers

2. It may be a Quicktime 7 bug, but it is sometimes in X as well.

Anyway. It seems that as I am just using your presets, somebody else MUST have come across this issue,so some guidance must exist.
