AME Memory hog!

Running Windows 7 64bit on a 4th gen I7 with 32GB memory.  Most of Adobe CC apps are installed and everything installed is up to date. 

AME is running most of the time to pick up some files in a watch folder from another local volume F:.

While not rendering anything, AME is using about 21GB of memory.  In Preferences-->Memory, I've allocated a maximum of 22GB for Adobe apps.  Why is AME holding on to the maximum?  Why does a rendering engine ever even use that much, and why isn't it letting go when it's finished?

 

Unlike others here, when I close AME, it correctly closes and does not hold on to memory, but since I leave it running to catch incoming files, that is not helpful.
