Why does my sound become distorted when I publish to YouTube?

I am running a Mac OS X, version 10.7.5. I am using Media Encoder 2014. When I publish the work the sound is distorted.

I have done all I can do to correct the problem from the recording end, like modifying the input in various ways, with no results. This leaves me with the Encoder as the culprit. I use the YouTube setting but the sound is still distorted. Any ideas?
