So my deadline for this project is tomorrow. I completed the editing and compositing of the project earlier on today and decided to render the project out in AME. I was a little astounded to discover that my 16 minute composition has a render estimated time of approximately 24 hours. Immediately I assumed that I must've have done something wrong with my project settings. I checked everything over in After Effects and verified that my settings appear to be fine. I am working from a notebook so I'm concerned that it might be out of my computer's capacity to work faster. I currently have AMD A10-4600M APU (pretty close to the performance of an I5) 2.45 Ghz, 8gb of ram, and I have adequate free space on a separate harddrive. I also have 150gigs of free space on my C drive. My notebook's mobile graphic card is a 7670m. I realize that my specs are not up to standard so I decided to ease my workflow by rendering out any individual clips in my timeline first to AVI, then I worked inside of AE with these clips. I have effects applied to adjustment layers for each clip (I figured this would bog down the computer less, instead of applying effects to individual clips). I have the lumetri effect applied to some areas of the composition. I'm not sure if the lumetri effect takes very long to render out. I also have war stabilizer applied to one clip. I suspect the problem might be that I have many nested clips (precomps); however this is completely necessary to how I have things organized. It would be a mess and confusing to work inside of AE without doing this. I'm rendering out my composition to h.264 (1920 X 1080p), 1 pass, at a target bit rate of 16Mbps. I expected there to be a long render time, maybe close to 3-5 hours, but 24 hours is insane. I checked task manager to see how much of the CPU is being used and it seems to me like AME is just idling. At this point I'm very confused. Does anyone have any tips? I'm pretty desperate in trying to limit this render time. I even wen't as far as to disabling previews to see if that would help. NOPE! Is this normal?
