So I have a strange problem, it seems AME refuses to use the GPU for transcoding - I have a 9 minute 4k file I need to transcode and it is taking over an hour on a very fast machine. I have tried other formats and files than this specific file and nothing engages the GPU at all (using GPU-Z to monitor load). Specifically trying to get DNxHR or DNxHD files into H.264 VBR 2 pass codec
Machine: core i7 3960K hex core cpu - GPUs installed: GTX 980 ti / GTX 1080 - 64 GB RAM Win 10 pro 64
- Premiere pro DOES use GPU (the 1080 in fact) for CUDA acceleration in video playback
- I have tried disabling the GTX 1080 in Nvidia control panel with AME (setting CUDA preference to 980ti, as I know pascal may not be compatible yet)
- I have tried versions of AME back to original CC, no luck
- I have tried transcoding other file types in case it was a file-specific problem (animation, cineform, etc) no luck
My gut is telling me this may be a CUDA or OpenCL / OpenGL / DLL issue.
I had CUDA 8.0 installed for use with Octane render, but uninstalled it and it makes no difference
perhaps trying an install of CUDA 7.0? would that help? Any other suggestions?
