Why no presets for H.264 at 59.94?

I noticed there are no presets for H.264 at 59.94 for 1920x1080. Is there a reason? Will it not work at 59.94 at 1920x1080?

Media Encoder CC Encoding Failure

I have never had any problems with Media Encoder on my system, but since ugrading from CS6 to CC suddenly the Media Encoder fails whenever I use the QUEUE rather than EXPORT on the Export Settings screen in Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

When I click the Failure link for more information, it just pulls up the log which tells me that Encoding Failed.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas for how to resolve it?

It's not a huge problem because I can always encode each video one at a time by clicking export, but being able to batch process a bunch of videos at a time helps the workflow.  THANKS!

AME hangs at "Reading XMP Data" and won't start encoding

System:

Mac OSX 10.8.5

2 x 3.06 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon

64 GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB

Premiere 7.2.1 (4)

AME 7.2.0.43

I've created short videos, usually 4 to 12 minutes in length.  Edited from Sony XDCAM EX video at 720p60.

I export 5 of these videos to AME using the h.264 codec to try to create mp4 files and cueue them in AME.

Once they are in the Queue of AME, I hit start.  AME shows the progress at the bottom and says it is Reading XMP data, but it

then never progresses to the encoding process.  I just keep seeing that yellow and grey barber pole progress bar moving, but nothing

ever happens.

I've used this process for months with no problems and now it won't work.  My coworkers and I have the same setup and we are each

haveing nothing but problems ever since Premiere and AME went past 7.0.

I saw it mentioned in another question to uncheck "Enable native Premiere Pro sequence import".  I tried that yesterday and it worked.

Today it does not.

Please help, this is getting rediculous the amount of problems we are suddenly having with Adobe products and a maxed out Mac machine.

AME CS5 refuses to work for us

Hello,

We have recently upgraded to Windows 7/64 bit and CS5 Production Premium. We are an Avid post house with 4 Avid systems running on a Unity server.

All of our material is digitized to this Unity 32tb server.  CS4 worked perfectly in this environment. However, when we are exporting Quicktime reference files from our Avid Media Composer version 5.x systems, the files just hang when trying to make FLV's with cue points (and other files). I've reinstalled the app, reinstalled the codecs, and still nothing. This is a critical piece of software for us and we need it to work for the amount of money we paid for 10 seats of it.

I'm on an HP Z800, 24gig of Ram, 100gig available on local drive and 7tb available on Unity drives.  Any help appreciated.

Media Encoder CC hangs when working with 96/24 audio

Title says it all! Has anyone else had this problem with Media Encoder CC? I just upgraded from CS5.5 to CC, and there were no issues with encoding 96/24 audio with CS5.5. I can reduce the audio files to 48/16 and theres no issue, but all the asset files for audio are in 96/24 and I'd of course rather work with the high resolution audio. I've tried searching the interwebz on the issue but can't find anything specific to the audio causing Encoder to hang. Thanks!

Adobe Media Encoder Dynamic Link Server NOT CONNECTING to Premiere Pro

$

I have Media Encoder CS5, as part of the Creative Suite 5. My programs say that I have no updates to install, so everything is up to date.

I am having an issue with the dynamic link server.

Here's what has happened thus far.

Recently when I have tried to encode a project sequence from Adobe Premiere Pro it DOES NOT work. This is the first time that has happened.

I repeated the process and again, it still happened, unable to connect to the Dynamic Link.

The Error messages that I was getting was "could not read from source. Check if it has been moved or been deleted"

Once, I received this, I went to check to see if all files were linked properly, and they were. Everything was rendered and all was good in the timeline and the project itself.

Yet, again, the error message appeared.

Then I tested a previous project that I knew had been exported and worked through Adobe to Media Encoder. And all the files were linked properly and yet again received the error message I wrote above.

Then I thought the Dynamic Link itself wasn't working properly, so I tested importing an Adobe After Effects Comp into a Premiere Timeline and it DID WORK.

Then I went and tested if a video file of an already exported project would be able to sync to Media Encoder. And this WORKED.

I then went to add the file directly from Media Encoder and when I went to add a sequence from a saved Premeire File, it would take about 5 minutes "Connecting to Dynamic Link Server", to then state, "Connecting to Dynamic Link Server Failed"

My question is, how do I fix the dynamic link between Media Encoder and Premiere? Because, additionally, importing and After Effects Sequence works with Media Encoder.

Media Encoder CS6 Not using all CPU Cores or RAM

I'm currently exporting a 90 second video (using the Vimeo HD 1080p preset), and it is taking about 30 minutes. This is extremely strange as I have an i7-990x OC'ed @4.5, 12GB RAM, SSD, etc.

I looked at Performance tab in Windows Task Manager, and saw 4 threads were not being used at all, only 20-25% of the CPU was in use, and only 6GB out of the 9GB I specified was being used.

Why isn't Media Encoder making full use of my CPU and RAM?

WMV export

I was wondering if there is a way to use Media Encoder to export files in WMV format using a Mac. It says here "Windows Media (WMV; Windows only)". Is there any possiblity to integrate a Mac - WMV converter like Flip4Mac into the Adobe Media Encoder.

I know that I can use Flip4Mac to export WMVs from QT Pro. But It would be nice to have one program where I can save all of my export presets for.

Export Settings - Minimum Bit Rate Question (MPEG2-DVD)

$

Hi,

Curious...just came over recently from FCP and I don't remember Compressor giving me an option to adjust the MINIMUM bit rate when exporting HD projects for DVD. I figured I'd just leave it where the preset has it (at 2.8mbps minimum)...BUT...then I hovered over it and saw an interesting popup/explanation of what it does which kind of confuses me. It says:

Higher values set a higher minimum quality, but reduce quality of more difficult scenes.

The first part makes sense so I figured I'd raise it...but then the second part makes me think I should keep it low. Sort of confuses me. Any thoughts??? FYI: My projects are Weddings with a fair amount of action, etc.

....

Normally, these are my settings depending unless I can't fit the project onto the disc in which case I adjust:

DVD

CBR at 7.5mbps

...or...

VBR 2pass

Target Bit Rate: About 6.8 or 7mbps

Max Bit Rate: Usually 8mbps

BLURAY

VBR 2pass

Target Bit Rate: 25mbps

Max Bit Rate: 30mbps

Unless someone tells me that I should raise these settings higher for better quality output (if the project size allows of course) these are what I've been using to get maximum quality out of my videos without jepordizing playback due to bit rate max for each media (which I think I read was 10mb and 40 or 50mbps respectively. I was just thrown by the minimum bit rate description above.

Thank you in advance for your help!

AME CC adds extra artifacts to my audio files

$

Hi all, here's my problem.

I'm using AME CC to batch encode alot of MP3 files to a lower bitrate. However, about 20-50% of the time, AME adds extra audio artifacts to the beginning of the audio file. Usually, AME will take the audio at time index 0:07, and put that as time index 0:00 of the audio file. This, of course is a terrible experience to the end user who will hear a "glitch" at the start of the audio playback. Below are links to download original files as well as AME corrupted files:

1. Original files: http://www.kaliki.com/_testing/originals/

2. AME encoded files: http://www.kaliki.com/_testing/encoded%20with%20AME/

Here's my specs:

AME version: 7.2.0.43

OS: Windows Server 2012

CC Subscription: yes

Other software running: Dropox, Python

Thanks

Media Encoder, huge pixel aspect ration bug! :(

$

I just reported a nasty bug that makes Adobe MEdia Encoder totally useless. It cannot even read the pixel aspect ratio of a ProRes file. It really sucks bigtime.

If I import a PAL ProRes file (obviously with non-square pixels), AME THINKS that the file has square pixels. It wants to add black bars on both sides of the footage, or it wants to make me crop the top and bottom of the image. That is all the options this program gives, there is no option for overriding the pixel aspect ratio of the original file.

I know the file is definetly not with square pixels. Premiere reads it correctly, Final Cut reads it correctly, my DVD Authoring program reads it correctly. AME is the only program that goes "Oh... oh... SQUARE!" Incredible. Why on earth are there no options for setting the correct pixel aspect ratio? LEt me freakin override the ****** software that cannot read the pixel aspect ratio automatically!

Where are the QuickTime/prores options in AME CS6

I am working with the trial version and can't convert a file to prores.. is that functionality only in the full version or has progress conversions been taken out of CS six..

Converting MOV to MP4

Hi forum,

I'm using AME CS6 and would like to convert a MOV file to MP4. My format options are F4V, FLV, H.264, H.264 (legacy), and MP3. I tried to export using H.264 and ended up with a 3GP file. Is it possible to export a MP4 file using one of my 5 format options? Or are there additional steps that I'll need to take? If so, what are they?

Thanks for your help!

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

$

When asking a question on the Adobe Media Encoder user-to-user forum, you can make it easier for folks to help you by proactively providing the answers to the following questions:

  • What version of Adobe Media Encoder? Include the minor version number (e.g., Adobe Media Encoder CS6 with the 6.0.1 update).
  • What other Adobe applications do you have installed, and what application are you using Adobe Media Encoder with?
  • Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
  • What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
  • Are you using Adobe Media Encoder through a Creative Cloud Membership subscription?
  • What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
  • If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
  • Is the problem only occurring with a specific output format or encoding preset? If so, which one? If this is a custom preset not included with AME, then upload the preset file to a file-sharing site and provide a link.
  • What were you doing when the problem occurred?
  • Has this ever worked before?
  • What other software are you running?
  • Do you have any third-party codecs installed?
  • Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
  • Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration in Premiere Pro?

Screenshots and sample movies are often very useful in showing exactly what you're seeing, and can thus make getting an answer faster and easier.

How to change variable frame rate to constant?

$

Hello,

I am exporting a mpeg HDV file that has a constant frame rate to a H264 video (.mp4) video to upload to a web-base video player. I'm actually using the preset in Media Encoder "YouTube HD 720p 29.97".

The online video web interface I use requires a constant frame rate. But when looking at the video in MediaInfo it shows the video file as a variable frame rate. After looking through the settings in Media Encoder I cannot find any option to correct that.  I see where you can change the frame rate and it is at 29.97. So you would think it would be constant but it is not. And it does not have any settings, that I can see, to change from variable to constant. I do see the bitrate settings, but that is not the issue.

I also have Apple Compressor and that successfuly does a constant frame rate, but if possible I'd rather use Adobe Media Encoder. So does anybody know how to change this setting? Thank you

Target & Max Bit Rate - A Little confusing Need file to be 15 GB Blu-Ray Help????

$

I have a 2 and a half hour project on PPro CS 5.5 that I want to encode in H.264 Blu-Ray.  I want to get it to 15 GB.

What woud be the best settings to do so?

The Target Bit Rate and Max Bit Rate have a lot to do with it, but I am a little confused on what each of them really do.

I just want to get it to 15 GB and make sure the Estimated file size somewhat accurate.

Is 15 GB too big for a Blu-Ray?

Thanks in advance

PPro CS 5.5

Media Encoder 5.5.

Thanks in advance
