Download Media Encoder

AME has not downloaded to my computer woth Premiere. I would like to know if there is a location that I can download this as a stand alone rather than bundled with Premiere.

I am using win7 64 bit 12gb ram on adobe CC full subscription.

Adobe: I have asked this question in these forums a few times in the past month and have had no response at all. Please let me know if there is another place or way to ask these questions? I'm confused about what to do here - i am paying full price for the service and can not get any support on a problem? Please answer me!

Video Encoding for DVD with Media Encoder

$

I've been struggling to get more videos on a DVD. Since I'm not an expert on this. Most of my vides are about an hour long and are mostly PowerPoint slides and screen capture of programming demonstrations.

I just keep wondering why DVDs I get to watch TV shows can have 4-6 hours of media when I can barely get two.

Any help would be appreciated.

Media Encoder CC hangs when working with 96/24 audio

Title says it all! Has anyone else had this problem with Media Encoder CC? I just upgraded from CS5.5 to CC, and there were no issues with encoding 96/24 audio with CS5.5. I can reduce the audio files to 48/16 and theres no issue, but all the asset files for audio are in 96/24 and I'd of course rather work with the high resolution audio. I've tried searching the interwebz on the issue but can't find anything specific to the audio causing Encoder to hang. Thanks!

I make very low budget documentaries using historical footage. I edit in DV, and output the final programme to .mov (DV). I am now being asked to supply my work as .mxf op1a. Can anyone give me some advice on how to covert my .mov files.??

No audio on H264 outputs created from mpeg original

Hi

This has happened twice now, and I'm not sure what cleared it before

I've created a clip using 'Match Sequence settings' and created an mpeg file which has audio.  If I automatically (using the my watchfolder option) or manually, by dragging into AME create a wmv or H264 version, they have no audio!

Any ideas?

I'm using CC on a windows PC with a FX3800 NVidea card.  CUDA as renderer

I think if I export stright to the H264 from PPro, that works fine

Thanks in advance

New Media Encoder Error: video and/or audio filters are missing...

$

0

My colleague reported this error popup window while using Adobe Media Encoder CC (up-to-date):

"video and/or audio filters are missing and the rendered output may not match the original"

I've been seeing similar errors the past few days. I can't remember if the wording was the same in the errors I saw, but the circumstances were the same.

I've never seen this popup error before the most recent CC update.

Some background info:

  • I queued up multiple Premiere Pro pproj files as usual from within Premiere
  • without rebooting or deleting any cache or temp files or anything, I start the queue
  • I have no special plugins installed in Premiere. Vanilla CC install.
  • Windows 7, 64-bit

This error doesn't tell me what audio/video filter(s) are missing. The output files, once I dismiss this warning, are perfect.

The major problem: It stops the queue dead in it's tracks. Sure, it might seem handy to stop and give you a warning, but when it's a false report and there's nothing wrong, it's killing us, because we queue up multiple files for encoding overnight, and we're not here to get the popups.

What is likely causing this? Is it a bug that this is appearing so frequently? Has anyone else experienced this besides my colleague and I?

Thanks!

Audio out of sync

I am trying to encode a two hour sequence and the audio is completely out of sync in a few locations.  I encoded this same sequence 4 times and each time the audio is out of sync is different areas.  All the footage was shot with an HD Flip Cam, and I've been encoding footage shot on the this camera for 5 months with no problems.  It plays perfectly in Premiere.  The sequence is twice the length as my others, but I can't imagine Adobe can't handle that.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?  I'm trying to encode the video to Windows media.  The footage is 1280x720 (1), 30,000 fps, 44100 Hz-compressed.

The sequence is 1280x720 (1) 29,97 fps 48000 Hz - Stereo.

I'm on a learning curve here as I'm still learning editing as well as understanding Adobe.

Any help would be so very appreciated.

Thanks,

Jules

Another spanned clips bug?

$

I've read that Adobe recently fixed a spanned clips bug. Well here's another one (at least on my system):

I have several spanned clips recorded with my Sony FS700 (MTS-files in AVCHD-container) and my Panasonic P2-camera (P2 MXF-files). When using Adobe Media Encoder (AME) to convert to ProRes, the spanned clips are joined right, but AME encodes the same material several times. The result is several copies of the exact same encoded material written to disk.

Here's how it works:

In one case, my camera had split my recording into 4 individual files. I expected AME to a) either join them and output one long file or b) not to join them and just output 4 individual ProRes files. Instead I ended up with 4 joined identical 32 GB files on disk. I did it again and noticed that AME actually encoded the same material 4 times in a row. What a waste of time and space …

When using Sony MTS-files, AME creates different filenames for each clip (0001.mov, 0002.mov, 0003.mov. When using Panasonic MXF-files, AME put _1, _2, _3, etc. at the end of the filenames.

In my opinion, AME should have a tick box where you can chose "join spanned files" or not. If it had such a box, it would chose to leave it off most of the time. That way it would be much easier to check if AME has converted all the files or not. It would be 32 files in = 32 files out, not 32 files in = 2 spanned files + x small files out … Nowadays, I have to doublecheck everything before formatting my cards.

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder v. 7.2.0.43 (64-bit) and OSX Mavericks 10.9.1 on a late 2013 Macbook Pro 15-inch Retina 2,3 GHz i7 16GB RAM 512 SSD.

Media Encoder gets stuck!!

$

0

I'm getting frustrated.  I have a 1hr long project that i'm trying to export and been fighting with it for a week.

Media encoder starts its work, it goes on for hours and eventually, at some random point it just stops encoding.  It doesn't freeze, it doesn't show any error, it doesn't physically "stop" but the output preview just freezes on a random frame (different each time) and the 'remaning' export time instead of getting shorter just gradually gets longer and keeps increasing to show that it's gonna take hundreds of hours to finish...  I didn't trust the preview/remaining time so i kept it on and encoding for 48 hours - at that time it showed that it was gonna take 600 something hours to finish and was still increasing.  ridiculous.

I'm on an HP elitebook workstation.  Nvidia Quadro 2000, 8GB ram.  Win7, Using Premiere CS6.  My sequence is pretty heavy - 1hr long, 9 video tracks, 10 or so audio tracks.  Most clips have MB Looks color correction on them, some clips have stabilization, few clips use MB MisFire effect.  95% of my footage are 1080p or 720p MOV files from the Canon 7D and from GoPro.  Few other clips are different formats (flv/mp4) and i have some stills + tiff timelapses and imported photoshop graphics.  Also, just a few AfterEffects clips imported into my timeline.  It's pretty heavy but i exported my rough cuts of this project many times before - most recently with the 720p youtube HD preset - always took a while, but it always DID export.

Now I'm trying to export with the 1080p YoutubeHD preset (except i checked 'render in max quality') and I also tried exporting as 1080p H.264 - and it just will not export...  It's been a week now, i tried many times, i deleted the cache, i started a new project and imported the old one into it, nothing makes any difference and i'm out of ideas...

*** Few potential clues i need to mention:

- For some time now I've been getting the [..\..\src\TickTime.cpp-207] error whenever opening the premiere project.  There are several discussions on this error on the forums - so far no solution and no clear source of the problem (aparrently sth to do with stabilization).  But after clicking 'ok' on the pop up error message continuously for a minute or so, the error goes away and the project doesn't seem affected in any way.

- a couple of my previous exports of this project had 1-2 clips that looked 'scrambled' in the finished exported file.  It was mostly the stills.  This only happened 2 times though, many other exports were just fine.  not sure why...

i'd much appreciate any advice...

AME long delays adding media or presets

$
0
0

I'm having a new problem on just one machine.  When adding clips to encode, AME doesn't respond for long periods of time.  It eventually comes back.  The length of delay is proportional to the number of clips I'm adding.  Adding via drag-drop, via the + sign, or from Pr results in same behaviour.  Same thing happens when adding presets.  Presets that are already 'attached' to a clip are able to be changed without delay.  Adding a preset to a clip in the que results in similar delays.  When rendering, the rendering itself goes as expected (fast) but at the end of each file being rendered but before moving to the next file, AME delays for several (sometimes 20-25 seconds or more) before moving to next file.

Details on system and files:

HP z600 Win7SP1  18GB RAM

Files reside on Fibre Channel connected SAN or Internal RAID or Desktop (behaviour doesn't change based on file locations)

Source files I've noticed this on: .mxf (Canon C300), Quicktime (ProRes, Uncompressed, h.264 (5/6D)

Preset targets I use often: .mp4, QT h.264, Ucompressed QT, File sequences, Avid DNxHD

This seems to have started recently, I haven't run updates except the usual MS stuff that comes every other week and all my Adobe apps are up to date according to CC app (AME is 7.2.0.43).

The rub is that the same files from same SAN location on a different machines (Mac or PC) are okay and don't delay in the ways described above.  Is there a cache or something that is fouling the waters?  Am I missing some sys maintenance on this particular machine?  All else seems good on this machine.

Any thoughts are appreciated.  I've searched but not found much, not sure what terms to use.

Target & Max Bit Rate - A Little confusing Need file to be 15 GB Blu-Ray Help????

I have a 2 and a half hour project on PPro CS 5.5 that I want to encode in H.264 Blu-Ray.  I want to get it to 15 GB.

What woud be the best settings to do so?

The Target Bit Rate and Max Bit Rate have a lot to do with it, but I am a little confused on what each of them really do.

I just want to get it to 15 GB and make sure the Estimated file size somewhat accurate.

Is 15 GB too big for a Blu-Ray?

Thanks in advance

Media Encoder, huge pixel aspect ration bug! :(

$

I just reported a nasty bug that makes Adobe MEdia Encoder totally useless. It cannot even read the pixel aspect ratio of a ProRes file. It really sucks bigtime.

If I import a PAL ProRes file (obviously with non-square pixels), AME THINKS that the file has square pixels. It wants to add black bars on both sides of the footage, or it wants to make me crop the top and bottom of the image. That is all the options this program gives, there is no option for overriding the pixel aspect ratio of the original file.

I know the file is definetly not with square pixels. Premiere reads it correctly, Final Cut reads it correctly, my DVD Authoring program reads it correctly. AME is the only program that goes "Oh... oh... SQUARE!" Incredible. Why on earth are there no options for setting the correct pixel aspect ratio? LEt me freakin override the ****** software that cannot read the pixel aspect ratio automatically!

Compatibility of export presets between CS5.5 and CS6?

$

I have a ton of custom presets that I've developed over several years. I tried importing them into CS6 by copying the custom presets from here:

\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\AME\5.0

to here:

\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\AME\6.0

I can see the custom presets in AME but only SOME of the presets in the export settings format/preset boxes from Premiere Pro CS6. e.g. AVI show up but not the presets for H264 or Windows Media formats etc (they don't appear).

Are the presets incompatible between CS5.5 and CS6 for some formats (maybe there are new settings that weren't in the old version)?

Thanks,

Paul.

Where are the AE render settings in Media Encoder?

I'd like to use Adobe Media Encoder for background rendering, but how do you set the render settings (like bit depth, motion blur, solo switches, guide layers, ect)?

Also, how do you select the output color profile from AME?

Constant Crashing on AME Launch

Just installed Creative Cloud on a brand new system.  All seems to be working fine except for Media Encoder. I'm getting constant crashes whenever I try to launch the program. It's only opened up a few times. Holding shift on launch wil let it open all the way, but it crashes a few seconds after that.

It crashes like the when launched from the dock, as well as launching through the "Queue" commands from Premiere and AE. Media Encoder is up to date. Here's the crash report: http://pastebin.com/Nxaeuaru

Here are my system specs:

Media encoder Encodes old Premiere Pro Edit

$

Sometimes when I export from Premiere and "Queue" to Media encoder, AME will encode a previous version of my edit instead of my updated current edit.

I assume premiere is packaging up a copy of the premiere file and sending it to a temporary location for Media encoder to then read that premiere file, so is AME perhaps reading an old temp Premiere file? Anyone know where these are stored maybe I should clean out that temp location before every export to AME.

AME encoding old dynamic link clips

$

I've run into this issue a couple times, and it's caused some embarrassment for me with clients. I start with a title card in AE and add it to my Premiere timeline via dynamic link. My client will ask me to change the font in the title card. So I go into AE and change the font. The changes show up in the timeline in Premiere, and if I export straight from Premiere, everything goes well.

However, if I export the timeline through from Premiere through AME, the changes made to the title card in AE (and linked to Premiere) will not show up in the exported file. Instead, the old version of the title card will be exported. Any other changes made in Premiere will be exported properly, but somehow the change to the AE clips won't make it over to AME.

Any thoughts?

FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

$
0
0

When asking a question on the Adobe Media Encoder user-to-user forum, you can make it easier for folks to help you by proactively providing the answers to the following questions:

  • What version of Adobe Media Encoder? Include the minor version number (e.g., Adobe Media Encoder CS6 with the 6.0.1 update).
  • What other Adobe applications do you have installed, and what application are you using Adobe Media Encoder with?
  • Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
  • What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
  • Are you using Adobe Media Encoder through a Creative Cloud Membership subscription?
  • What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
  • If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
  • Is the problem only occurring with a specific output format or encoding preset? If so, which one? If this is a custom preset not included with AME, then upload the preset file to a file-sharing site and provide a link.
  • What were you doing when the problem occurred?
  • Has this ever worked before?
  • What other software are you running?
  • Do you have any third-party codecs installed?
  • Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
  • Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration in Premiere Pro?

Screenshots and sample movies are often very useful in showing exactly what you're seeing, and can thus make getting an answer faster and easier.

Media Encoder CC Crashes Loading Looks 3

Every time I load Media Encoder it crashes when "Loading Looks3_AE10.plugin. I have no idea where to even start with trying to fix this. I just formated my primary drive and am in the process of reinsalling and setting everything up. So I just got all my stuff reinstalled and updated and was going to test something out in Media Encoder and I get this same issue every time. I've tried updating the OS, restarting, making sure everything else is up to date and nothing helps.

Really need help with AME Adobe Media Encoder crash on startup.

$

Hey all, this is my first time posting in these forums.

I have Adobe Design Premium and need to use the included Media Encoder for a project I'm working on.  It opened well the first time, and I started converting a file - at which point it crashed.  Since then, when I start it, it shows the startup / loading image, but once finished opening disappears and closes itself.  I've tried reinstallig, no dice.  I also read the plugin log files (My Documents > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder > Log Files) - nothing out of the ordinary.

Very stuck and very frustrated - any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks!
