Media Encoder render extremely slow

Render speed of Media Encoder (2018) is x4 slower than premiere pro cc 2018 in same File export with same rendering settings.

Rendering time of the file (4K video. H.264 Mp4.  2 min. length) :  Premiere Pro - 9 min,

                                                                                                          Media encoder - 41 min

My System:  AMD Ryzen Threadripper x1950 (16-core)

                     GeForce GTX 1070

                     64G RAM of DDR4

                     2 x 256G SSD

If I am trying to export anything around 20mins or above, either after exporting for a while or just as it finishes, I get this error message (on Premiere Pro directly and AME also):

32-bit QuickTime support ending

Support for import/export of legacy 32-bit QuickTime media will be discontinued in a future version of Premiere Pro. Transcode to a non-legacy format to continue using the media in Premiere Pro after legacy support has ended.

I have updated all my softwares (premiere pro and media encoder) and also made sure my QuickTime (v10.4) is up-to-date (and as far as I can see, it is)

I have seen other discussions saying to deselect "Import sequences natively" in AME preferences, which I have done and it didn't help. I have also seen someone recommend exporting without audio, however I am a wedding filmmaker, and thats not an option. The specific clip I am trying to export is someones wedding speech, so it is just one video track, and 2 audio tracks.

As mentioned above, it is only when exporting videos (roughly) 20mins and above, I don't have any issues when it comes to shorter clips and even successfully exported one around 17 minutes long, earlier today.

My laptop is a MacBook Pro (late 2013) 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

Thanks in advance!

So a few days ago i download adobe premiere and CC 2017 and media encoder, at first I could import my mp4 files with no problem abd export them as h.264 format with no problem. But now I can't import mp4 files at all, it only imports the audio. I converted all my files to AVI and i finally could import them but whenever i tried to  export it i got the following error:

Is not exporting in correct color depth

1. I color graded the video with Davinci resolve, exported and imported it in After effects

2. Selected Color depth 16bit per channel in AE (everything looks good).

3. Exported with media encoder (preview looks bad)

4. Ticked "Enable Display Color Management" in settings (preview looks good now)

5. Export with these settings

6. The exported file lost contrast. See picture here

Anyone has any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Media Encoder fails exporting in DCP with error code 3

Hello !

I am having several issues with Media Encoder.

I will talk about only one in this topic.

I am trying to export my Premiere project with the DCP Wrapper preset and it keeps on failing.

Here is the log message (in French, sorry) :

"

- Délai de codage : 00:33:21

03/28/2017 04:56:14 PM : Echec du codage

"

The project is 04:43 long so I cannot identify where the problem is.

I cleared the cache folders to prevent from a corrupted file.

I tried both to export to an external driver (USB 2.0) and to my local C driver with no success.

I cleared my preferences, uninstalled then re-installed the Creative Cloud desktop app

I am using the latest version of CC 2017 for both Premiere and Media Encoder.

My windows 8.1 is up-to-date even for the optional updates.

I have (weardly?) 2 graphic card pilots  : AMD Radeon HD 8800M Series and Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.
And (even more weardly?) 4 identical pilots for my processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz

I have 16Go of RAM .

Today, i had a "VIDEO_MEMORY_MANAGEMENT_INTERNAL" error on Windows...

Windows updated automatically 2 weeks ago and caused another kind of trouble at the time. I fixed it by re-updating Windows.

I am always getting an "Error code: 3" and "Selector: 9".

I had not so much troubles using Media Encoder except since 2 weeks.

Any idea?

Adobe Media Encoder CC2015.3 stuck in reading XMP

$

I am really really getting frustrated by the Adobe CC bugs.

I've just formatted and reinstalled everything (Adobe CC2015.3) on my new PC:

- Windows 10

- intel I7-6900K

- 128GB RAM DDR4

- OS on a 512GB M.2

- Project Files on two RAID 0 SSD.

Now, when i send my sequences to AME and start the queue, AME gets stuck on "reading XMP" for like one hour. After that it moves on and renders, but once the sequence is finished it restarts to read XMP again...

You do understand that i need to export 70 sequences (which take 5 mins each) and i cannot wait 100 hours for that just for AME to read XMP!!!

I also tried the following in AME: edit->preferences->Metadata-> set all the fields to none (no metadata export)

But that didn't work.

I've read ALL the threads about this without finding any solution.

Please help me, i'm going to face a huge delay which will make our customers quite angry...

Thank you

Adobe Media Encoder Not Working Properly

AME recently stopped working for me. It will launch when I queue a project to be exported, however, the project won't show up in AME so I can start the export process. I've searched and tried everything I can find with regards to fixing AME but still not working. I see a lot of posts about AME not working throughout the Internet with a few suggestions to fix but nothing seems to work with any regularity with anyone.

When it stopped working, I hadn't made any changes to my computer (iMac OS 10.11.3) or to my Adobe apps (I'm a CC subscriber). There was an update to PP and AME available, which I downloaded/installed but still not working.

No warning on rendering when font is missing or not synced.

This is incredibly frustrating. Occasionally I'll have an evening/ overnight queue. I'll start it and sometimes it'll crash and I may have to reset my pc.

When opening AME and continuing the queue I will get no warning if fonts are not synced before I start the render. In this specific instance this is with AE projects rendered in AME but I believe it happens with Premiere as well.

Typekit syncing is a mess.

Converter MP4 para FLV

Boa tarde!

Renders from Media Encoder don't loop cleanly

$

Hello.

In the past I have exported mp4s and set them to loop for smaller looping files on the web. Recently I've noticed a glitch where the animation stops for a beat so you can feel the loop point like a hiccup. I did some trouble shooting to isolate the issue.

- I opened the file with quicktime to test if it is a web issue but the hiccup persists locally.
- I then tried a different codec and extension out of Media Encoder but the hiccup persists. (mpeg, quick time mov,)
- I then tried a render as an .mov from the After effects render. This time the file loops.

Through this series of tests I was able to identify the renderer as the issue rather than the codec, file type, or platform. I would just switch to the Ae rendered but h264 is not a render option from after effect. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

HEVC (H.265) HDR setting dims the image

$

I'm working with a video file that I'm exporting from AfterEffects to Media Encoder to render. The file needs to be in HDR, but whenvever I check the HDR button in the HEVC encoding settings, it causes my video to render much darker. Regardless if viewed on an HDR TV or a computer monitor,  the dark colors come out black, and the light colors come out dim and dingy. Unchecking the HDR box causes it to look like the pre-processed AE file, so I've isolated it to that one setting.

My questions is if this is a known issue, and if anyone knows of a way to compensate, short of cranking up the levels and saturation in the original AfterEffects file?

Exporting to GIF

Hello!

I was exporting a project to a gif so I can use it else where.  However, everytime I go to export the project to a gif, it has a black background through the entire project.  Even though the project doesn't have one.  Is there a setting I am forgetting to use?

Media Encoder wrong source duration for both bin exported media from Premiere and images dragged in

$

This is an incredibly frustrating issue I have across Premiere and ME versions.

I have a bunch of images I want to export as Mp4 to batch concatenate with ffmpeg.

The issue:

The problem is when I drag images to ME to export as video they default to 5s. This is despite having them set to 14s in Premiere.

As a way around this I tried exporting the images from Premiere's bin (right click, Export Media). However, for some reason, when I do this the queued items in ME end up about ~12 hours! The source range is set to 'entire clip'. I have no idea how it got this 11:59 hr value for the source range, I tried both with and without a sequence in the bin of the project.

I can change the source range to 'in/out' manually but this is not a good option for many files. I even tried selecting multiple clips at once and changing the source range but it only changes the first clip selected.

Help Please - Time-lapse workflow for Pond5 submissions

I'm still pretty new to time-lapse and video rendering, so please excuse any obvious ignorance...

I've beem shooting time-lapse clips with a Canon 5D Mk III and at times have up to 2,500 raw frames. I shoot in manual mode in raw format.

My current workflow:

1) transfer files to my pc working folders (i7-7820x 32GB ram with lots of hdd and ssd space)

2) Bridge/ACR for initial exposure, white balance, etc.

3) LRTimelapse Pro to manage overal smoothing/deflicker

4) Back to Bridge/ACR for final touch-up

5) Import sequence to After Effects

6) Create composition - target frame rate either 23.967 or 29.97 fps

Now to the question: best rendering approach for full frame video submission to Pond5? (render engine is AME)

From the Pond5 blog:

>Resolution and Frame Rate

>4K and above: Keep the file size below 5GB - my note: the clips are in this range due to the 5730 x 3840 frame

>Codecs

>We accept the following codecs (in order of preference):

  • Unmodified camera-native codecs, including R3D (see below), AVCHD, H264, PRORES, DNxHD, DNxHR, M2TS, XDCam, MXF, HDV, DV, DVCProHD.
  • Apple ProRes
  • Avid native DNxHD
  • H.264. (We accept H.264 when it’s the camera’s native codec or as a broadcast-quality intermediate. Camera-native files can be uploaded without modification. For intermediate H.264, make sure that it is set to the highest quality.)

In my case there is no "camera-native" video format as they begin as raw stills.

My goal: highest quality for the final customer/consumer - so I'm treating my work as an "intermediate" that will likely be edited again.

I don't have a problem using the h.264 codec, but is this appropriate for further work? (my reading indicates this codec is intended as a "viewing" codec)

I have also created various ProRes outputs, but, aside from long renders, it's easy to exceed the 5GB file size.

A "best practices" approach is my goal; I want to have a stabilized working practice.

Suggestions appreciated,

Bob

CBR vs VBR setting in Media Encoder for Amazon Video Direct

$

Greetings,

I have a video file that I uploaded to Amazon Video Direct. But they found a couple of problems with it.

They said that the Video uses VBR. But that they only accept CBR.

If I choose the H.264 Preset, then I see a choice to select VBR/ CBR.

However, I'd like to use the ProRes 422HQ preset, but when I select this, I didn't find a Setting that allowed me to choose CBR (instead of VBR), or for that matter the Bit Rate.

Any idea on how to achieve this?

      Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rajnesh
