problem: import image sequence in adobe media encoder

Hi

have a problem with adobe media encoder CS6, in media encoder preferences I change the Display Format to 25 frame timecode, I import a serial of TGA (170 frame) to media encoder as a TGA image file Sequence, this serial generated from 3D Max and ToonBoom applications, the specification of TGA serial 1080 50i "1920X1080 - upper filed - 25 fps", when I import the sequence, media encoder recognize the sequence as 1920X1080 - progressive - 29.97 fps, in interpret Footage options window I change the settings of the sequence to upper filed - 25 fps, and I export it to quicktime mov 1920X1080 - upper filed - 25 fps uncompressed

the problem:

the duration of mov file is 06:20 and that is correct for 170 frame as 25 fps but the mov file not contain all tga serial image, the image freeze at time code 05:16 (frame number 142) and duplicate the frame 142 to the rest of movie file

if I don't change the frame rate in interpret Footage options window for the tga sequence which media encoder recognize it as 29.97 fps, the mov file contain all TGA frames but with duration of 05:16 which not 25 fps

in adobe media encoder CS5.5 I don't get this problem at all

1- how to solve this problem ??

2- how to force adobe media encoder CS6 to recognize the imported image sequence as 25 fps frame rate ??

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, Adobe Creative Suite Master Collection CS6

thanks

Using the preset DV PAL widescreen or making own PAL preset up with aspect set to 16:9

when open file in QT it's 4:3 ?  Used to work fine.

Anyone any ideas ?  You can't change this in QT-X

Many thanks

Wraptor DCP cropping image in cinema projection

Aside from the major problems with both MediaEncoder's DCP Wraptor preset crashing if you try and run it through a Premiere project, I have been able to create a DCP from a ProRes version of my project. However, testing the DCP today at a cinema with a Christie projector and a GDC Cinema Server, the image projected on the screen was only the upper-left quadrant of my film, which it centered in the silver screen at the very bottom. Again, the image is not reduced or shrunk, but is rather only the upper-left quadrant of my film. 3/4 of the image is missing.

There are no options I can see on the DCP setting that should make any difference. It should have taken my ProRes 1920x1080 version of the film (which looks fine, nothing cropped or missing) and converted it as it says it can. The preview window of MediaEncoder does not show any issues. What is going on and how do I fix this? The premiere for this film is in a week and I have limited ability to keep testing it at the theater.

MediaEncoder version is 2014.2

Quality poor in comparison to Compressor

We are running tests to find the best way to export commercials to TV stations. Our editing workflow is slowly switching over to Premiere Pro from Final Cut. It obviously makes sense to use AME for encoding tasks out of PPro. However, with the same settings, our results are poor coming out of AME versus Compressor. Below is an image showing both h.264 files encoded in AME and Compressor. You can clearly see how the AME version is having color issues in the red text. This is a CBR 45 Mbps encode with no automatic keyframe placement.

AME Won't Start Queue After Re-installing on New MacBook Pro

CC 2014

Hi, I used Migration Assistant to copy data from my old machine to a new MacBookPro. On launching CC for the first time there were lots of error messages, so I uninstalled all of my CC Apps and started to reinstall them. PP and AE work perfectly but AME won't "start queue" and crashes on exit. I've tried different codecs. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling AME. Short of a clean re-install of OSX and starting again without using Migration Assistant does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

"Preparing Audio" now happens before each encoding file....causing seriously slow encodes as a result!

I am hoping someone can tell me what I am doing wrong.

Since the 2014 update to Adobe Media Encoder I have noticed that, whether I am encoding for the web or DVD or BluRay, Adobe Media Encoder "Prepares Audio" first.  This has significantly increased the encoding time for each source and is really beginning to hack me off.  It was fine before, why is it now suddenly something I am having to deal with?  As far as I know I am doing nothing differently.

I should mention that the source is a sequence direct from a Premiere Pro CC2014 Project.

If someone can shed any light on this then I'd be really grateful!

Cheers

AME CS4 crashes during launch

I've been using AME CS4 (4.2.0.006) with Premiere Pro CS4 onWindows XP for years, but now it always crashes during launch: "AppName: adobe media encoder.exe  AppVer: 4.2.0.0  ModName: watchfolder.dll  ModVer: 0.0.0.0  Offset: 00011f03"). I de-installed and re-installed Premiere with no result. Downloaded latest AME CS4 version. Didn't move watchfolder.dll. Deleted any "AMEPrefs.xml"-file. Any ideas?

Updated CC 2014 AME to version 2014.2 - CUDA Renderer Option No Longer Available?

$

Hi,

I just updated my AME CC application to version 2014.2 and the 'Renderer' option to allow use of the GPU CUDA cores is no longer available. Is related to the udpate? Or does the renderer option "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL)" now automatically engage CUDA if present given the GPU? These used to be two separate Renderer options.

My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB on an iMac running OS 10.10.1.

Thanks,

AE composition renders progressive in AME CC2014

$

In AfterEffects CS6 we could render compositions directly as interlaced mp4 files.

Now we upgraded to CC 2014.2 - and there we are forced to render mp4 files via Adobe MediaEncoder.

But AME determines all AfterEffects compositions as "progressive". We are not able to interpret the compositions as "upper" or "lower".

If we import AfterEffects compositions to Premiere they are also interpreted as "progressive", but in Premiere we can change the interpretation to "upper" (right click).

So we have the following work around:

1) create and animate compositions in AE

2) import them to Premiere and change the field order from "progressive" to "upper"

3) place them in a Premiere sequence ("upper")

4) import the Premiere sequence to AME and render

How do you tell AME that the AE composition should render interlaced...?

Thanks for your help!

Adobe Media Encoder: Audio won't export with video

I am trying to convert an AVCHD video for viewing on my iPad 3. I use Adobe Media Encoder and select the iPad 2 settings (1920x1080) and it exports the video perfect, but no audio. I have "Export Audio" checked off. I tried it with 5 other settings and it just wont include the audio. Any ideas?

AME Not showing Video in Preview after Lion 10.7.3 Update

I've been using AME daily for a few months working solid and fast now ran lion 10.7.3 update and lots of weird things happening. The most consistent is the video is not able to be viewed in the preview scree, however, if you hit encode it the video encodes sometimes fine other times just black. I read somewhere thet lion 10.7.3 included lots of video specific updates but this one screwed me.  Anyone have a work around? I tried compressor and that thing kept hanging too.

Are the prefs or something I can trash?  That use to work for some issues on FCP.

AME ignores AE comp's background color?

When I render MP4 from AE by AME (this is now forced by Adobe) then in comps with background set to White rendered MP4 have BLACK background.

WTF? Anyone else?

I missed something?

Besides rendering now everything 3 times slower with AME (ram preview + slow AME startup + AME render = especially peaceful with 5K footage ) it is now need to make always Solid as background in comps??

Problem encoding h.264 mp4 at 853x480

$

So I am new-ish to Premiere, and very new to AME. I just downloaded CS6 so I'm still learning my way around, but here's my dilemma:

I need to encode an h.264 mp4 at 853x480 (480p), baseline profile, AAC low complexity audio.

Below is a screenshot of the settings I'm using. Every time I try to set the width to 853 or the height to 480, AME readjusts it to what it thinks the values should be (852x478, 860x480, etc).

I wasn't able to reproduce it this time for some reason, but I was getting an error saying that the frame size wasn't allowable for my settings, change the profile, level, or frame size. (none of which made any difference, btw)

I don't understand this. Final Cut Pro and Quicktime would automatically set the .mp4's value to 853x480, all I had to do was choose custom frame size, and give it one of the values. It would automatically calculate the other one.

Why won't AME let me choose 853x480?

Exporting Premiere Pro CS6 project to AVI

Can sounds a little funny, but since I've upgraded to Creative Cloud CS6 I am experiencing troubles finding out how to convert any file to AVI output format. I can't find the right format in the Presets pannel for that (amongst the system presets in the panel on the right).

Export quits without warning, no notification of problem.

Hello,

I'm having an issue exporting CBR WMVs in AME.   The program starts to export, creates the file, but then just stops exporting reporting a complete export with green check mark.    The problem is only the first few seconds of video is actually exported before end of file (EoF).

I export many videos from up to 12 different projects at a time using either of the following settings (note that I chose CBR 2Pass for the smaller wmv because it yields a better quality video on export.  I would like to keep that setting.)

Codec: Windows Media Video 9

864 x 480

fps: 30

Progressive

Square (1.0)

CBR, 1 pass 1,872 kbps

IQ: 100

Complexity: Auto

Keyframe: 5

Audio: WMA 9.2; 44100 Hz; Stereo; 16 bit; Passes: 1; CBR; 128 kbps

AND

Codec: Windows Media Video 9

432 x 240

fps: 12.5

Progressive

Square (1.0)

CBR, 2 pass 234 kbps

IQ: 100

Complexity: Simple

Keyframe: 5

Buffer Size: 1 sec

Audio: WMA 9.2; 22050 Hz; Mono; 16 bit; Passes: 1; CBR; 20 kbps

Projects contain Media linked from AE, Photoshop, and are cleanly produced from a local 7200 drive.  Footage is HD, AVCHD m2ts from Sony NX5U.   When exporting I am using Quadro 5000, Dual XEON system.

Problem occurs with Mercury Playback Engine set to Software or CUDA.   Problem occurs at random and usually works within 3 tries of exporting.

Thanks for any help provided.

Export Settings - Minimum Bit Rate Question (MPEG2-DVD)

$

Hi,

Curious...just came over recently from FCP and I don't remember Compressor giving me an option to adjust the MINIMUM bit rate when exporting HD projects for DVD. I figured I'd just leave it where the preset has it (at 2.8mbps minimum)...BUT...then I hovered over it and saw an interesting popup/explanation of what it does which kind of confuses me. It says:

Higher values set a higher minimum quality, but reduce quality of more difficult scenes.

The first part makes sense so I figured I'd raise it...but then the second part makes me think I should keep it low. Sort of confuses me. Any thoughts??? FYI: My projects are Weddings with a fair amount of action, etc.

....

Normally, these are my settings depending unless I can't fit the project onto the disc in which case I adjust:

DVD

CBR at 7.5mbps

...or...

VBR 2pass

Target Bit Rate: About 6.8 or 7mbps

Max Bit Rate: Usually 8mbps

BLURAY

VBR 2pass

Target Bit Rate: 25mbps

Max Bit Rate: 30mbps

Unless someone tells me that I should raise these settings higher for better quality output (if the project size allows of course) these are what I've been using to get maximum quality out of my videos without jepordizing playback due to bit rate max for each media (which I think I read was 10mb and 40 or 50mbps respectively. I was just thrown by the minimum bit rate description above.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Encoder is simply not working anymore. Why?

When I first downloaded CC, Adobe's Media Encoder was working fine.

About a month ago it stopped working for me altogether. When I queue a sequence from Premiere for example, it will open Encoder, but the window will be blank. Not empty. Blank. No UI. I can manually start the program, but the same problem occurs. I can not import a sequence from Premiere. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, I'm something of a noob to CC.

For the past month I've just been exporting from Premiere directly, which is fine when I don't have other work to do. But I'm a busy guy, and this is sucking. Help?

Wrator DCP problems in AME CC 2014

DCP rendering fro AME is great, but I am having some problems:

1. Wrator DCP informs a fixed bitrate convertion of 250Mbps, but I am geting final DCPs with variable and very low bitrates, as 38Mkps or even lower.

EDITED: It seams that is not a problem at all. QuVIS claims to use a Quality Priority Encoding method, so encoding bitrates are variables up to 250Mbps aiming to a studio quality standard, and not fixed as I thought. Good indeed.

2. NeoDCP player won't play some DCP due to unmatched frame numbers form audio and video MXF

3. Render crashes sometimes with no apparent reason.

PS: I am using the new recomended update from QuVIS site: DCP Packaging for Adobe Media Encoder 8 | QuVIS

AME CC renders AE projects progressive (not interlaced)

$

Hi folks,

we updated to CC 2014.2 last week and are now stuck without fields - and as a broadcaster broadcasting 1080i we desperately need interlaced files!

Here´s the detail:

For a quick demonstation I created a simple AE project (CS6) with a blue bar rotating around the center.

This same composition is opened in AME CS6 and in AME 2014.2 and rendered with the identical settings:

Bildschirmfoto 2015-01-28 um 16.12.55.png

This is the result from AME CS6:

Bildschirmfoto 2015-01-28 um 16.13.49.png

This is the result from AME CC 2014.2

Bildschirmfoto 2015-01-28 um 16.14.00.png

During the last week we tried everything to convince AME 2014.2 to render in fields - but we didn´t succeed...

The only workaround is:

  1. open the AE composition in PremierePro
  2. interpret it as "upper field"
  3. place it into a sequence
  4. send this sequence to AME

Then AME renders it interlaced...

Please note

  • I´m not talking about interlaced or progressive videomaterial but about the field handling of AE animations itself in AME
  • under "Quelle/Source" it says "progressive", but you can´t change the interpretation on a AE composition
  • in AME CS6 it says "progressive" as well but renders out fields
  • we tried this with several different projects and compositions on different computers (PC and Mac)
  • scary: identical sources with identical render settings produce different files in AME CS6 vs. AME 2014.2
  • it´s not just the field/progressive thing - mp4 files from AME 2014.2 are half size than from AME CS6

Thanks for your help - we really need our fields back...  ;-)

Best regards
