Media Encoder isn't using GPU to render

$

I know there are tons of threads out there that ask this question, but a lot of them seem older and don't have proper answers.

When rendering my files from Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018, it always uses my CPU entirely for rendering the finished product. This takes a really long time, as I have an i5-6500 (Quad Core clocked at base 3.2Ghz), so files can take between their own length to twice the video length to render.

When I select to use the Mercury Playback Engine, which explicitly states it uses my GPU to render, I still see 100% CPU usage with the standard idle GPU usage I get (0-2%). Not only is it selected as my Renderer in ME, but it's also selected as the default Renderer in Premiere Pro's project settings.

Sony Vegas Pro, the competitor to Premiere/AE/ME, renders on the GPU moreso than Adobe's products do. If the answer to this question is "not all effects render on the GPU, at the peak end of 2017 mind you (not 1998), then I have to sincerely raise an eyebrow how only cutting a video's length by a bit can somehow render slowly or doesn't constitute as "available to render on a GPU".

Though, if anyone has an idea of what I may be doing wrong that can be troubleshooted, I appreciate any help I can get!

Edit: I realized that I forgot to give some vital information in this regard.

My specs:

Windows 10 (64-bit Pro)

Intel i5-6500 (Quad Core, 3.2Ghz)

8GB DDR4 RAM

AMD RX460

Adobe CC is installed on my boot drive (SSD)

Files are rendering to a 2TB 7200RPM HDD

I'm checking performance via Task Manager (It shows GPU usage when games are using it all the time)

Media Encoder CC2018 12.1.1 Build 12 Crashing on Batch Queues

Hi guys,

The latest version of Media Encoder exporting a batch of sequences to master deliverables as well as for proxy generation continues to crash a few files into a batch encode.  I've seen it crash on the second file, I've seen it crash on the 20th file depending on length of exports.  Seems like it's about 10-15 minutes in when the crash appears.  The latest crashes are with Apple ProRes Match Source 1920x1080 & H264 1920x1080 15MB Final Deliverable files exported concurrently under the same sequence.  The proxies were a custom Apple ProRes Proxy 1920x1080 sequence preset.  I did find someone that mentioned that closing Premiere prior to starting the encodes might fix the problem so I am testing that theory now, but curious if anyone's seeing it.  I filed a bug report to the newly (albeit terribly) designed feature/bug report "forum" that Adobe made, but am still running into issues.  Any others seeing it?  Any thoughts on how to go about a workaround?  Losing AME is going to screw me in the coming weeks with a ton of masters going out the door in the near future.  Thanks.

Computer Specs -

27" Retina 5K iMac

Using Encoder to convert a DVD to a single (MP4) file

$

I currently have Adobe Media Encoder CC. I have a number of family DVDs that I would like to convert each to a single digital file for online storage. All these DVDs have menus. If possible I like the menu part to also be converted -- I know it will not be interactive but its presence will show what all is there.

I know that I can convert individual VOB files to MP4.

Question 1: Is it possible to convert all video VTS*.VOB files (preferably with the menu) into a single MP4?

Question 2: If the above is not possible, is there an option in AME to merge the resulting MP4 files into a single file?

Question 3: If the above approach is not optimal, what is the best way to convert DVD files into a single digital file (with or without the menu part).

Many thanks in advance!

Red Screen intermittently and randomly when playing back and encoding premiere pro 2017

Hi,  I recently updated to premiere pro 2017 and have since begun to get major problems with  premiere pro showing just the red screen but still playing audio at random points during timeline playback. This issue also happens randomly when exporting and encoding the file, both in premiere pro 2017 and media encoder 2017. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling premier pro, completely resetting windows,  updating my graphics driver to the latest version and reinstalling any codecs I use. I previously used Adobe Premier Pro CC 2015 and did not have  this problem at all.

I'm working on a surface three pro, with Core I7  and HD5000  graphics,  8 GB of RAM. All of the  clips are stored on a separate drive, which is fast and are all encoded  as .Mov.

please help because this is making premiere pro practically unusable for my  purposes..

Additionally I'm also getting issues with blocky encoding in some clips in WMV  at maximum render settings.

Media Encoder 2019 won't connect to Dynamic Link

Hi,

The Problem

After upgrading to the 2019 version of After Effects (16.0.0 Build 235) and the 2019 version of Media Encoder (13.0 build 203) I am not able to render my footage in Media Encoder. It won't connect to the Dynamic Link Server.
I am able to drag and drop my composition from AE to AME. But when I try to render the composition it gets stuck on 'connecting to the Dynamic Link server'.

My system
MacOS Sierra Version 10.12.6
Processor: 2,7 GHZ Intel Core i5
Memory: 16GB
Videocard: Intel Iris Pro 1536MB

Extra info

It all worked when i was using AME version 12.1.2 and AE version 15.1.2

What I have tried
- I tried this solution AME cannot connect to Dynamic Link Server
(I looked into this further and find out this problem happens when the following conditions are both met.

AE Preferences > General > "Show Start Screen at Startup" is disabled

AE Preferences > New Project > "New Project loads template" is enabled)<- which didn't work for me.

- I tried to install the previous version (12.1.2). I was able to render footage, but wasn't able to drag and drop my AE composition in AME.
- I tried to reinstall AE and AME.
- I tried to reset my AE preferences.
- I checked my Dynamic Link connection in After Effects and Premiere Pro.

Anybody else got this issue? Really appreciate the help!

Thanks!

Export settings for Small file size

I'm currently starting work on a project where we are capturing footage from several different places around the country. All the footage gets sent to me. What I'm looking to do is set up a fairly automated workflow using watch folders and Adobe Media Encoder to export small file size outputs of the footage that we can make available for the rest of the team to preview. So those exported clips get saved to another folder that gets posted.

The goal is to take what we shoot (very large in file size and lengthy clips and therefore takes a lot of time to post back up) and be able to give a small reference view to others on our connected team.

I know this can be done and I've seen the steps to take to set this up with watch folders - BUT -I need assistance in choosing the right output settings that will give me a small file size video clip that is of a decent image quality and audio quality, something that is widely viewable format wise. Looking for ideas on export settings to choose for this goal?

Thanks, Will

I just edited a video i recorded with my iphone 6, after i finished i tried using media encoder to render the video but when I view the exported video it is one second or maybe one frame long also my video takes no time at all to export, almost like its not rendering.

I'm exporting in MOV and I am using a free trial, i also am not getting any errors.

(Not sure if it matters but since i recorded it with a iphone the video file is called IMG_9533)

How do I install the DNxHD and Cineform codecs? (Missing from AME 6 )

I have downloaded the free versions of both of these codecs in the hopes of being able to transcode to each as an intermediate codec for my AVCHD files. The problem is that neither shows up in either my Premiere Pro CS6 or Adobe Media Encoder Import/Export options? What gives? Did I miss something here? How do I get the option to transcode or encode to DnxHD or Cineform on a PC version of CS6?

Hi,

Yesterday I updated AE and Media Encoder to the latest versions and after that I'm not able to get the AE file to the queue in Media Encoder.

I press;

Export - Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue: But the file doesn't show up in the queue window in Media Encoder.

I've tried to reinstall earlier versions but then the quality of the movie gets really really bad!

I use a MacBook Pro 15 and I have Adobe Creative Cloud

Best regards

EError: “AEGP Plugin AEDynamicLinkServer: Adobe Media Encoder is not installed

$

I have a corporate license to Adobe software. I am using Premiere Pro CC 2015 and After Effects CC 2015.  Today, I was having an issue using an MP2 file with Premiere Pro.  So I saw something and ran "Updates" hoping it would solve the issue.  I don't know what it did but it broke After Effects.  When trying to export a lower thirds project, I got the following error: “AEGP Plugin AEDynamicLinkServer: Adobe Media Encoder is not installed. Please download and install it to use this feature. Go to https://creative.adobe.com/apps."   which is then followed by AEGP Plugin AEDynamicLinkServer: Failed to connect to Adobe Media Encoder.”  I uninstalled After Effects and Premiere Pro and re-installed them both.  I still get the same error.  I assumed Adobe Media Encoder was installed but when I go look in the same folder where the other Adobe software is (Programs), it's not there.

How does Adobe Media Encoder get installed (part of PP or AE)? I also found a URL where I could download an AE "update" - ran that and I get an error saying the "patch is not applicable to you".  I think somehow through this process Adobe Media Encoder was uninstalled and not re-installed with either PP or AE.

No audio when using 2017 Media Encoder

Hi,

I'm having issues with the 2017 version of Media Encoder.

To start, I exported my files from Adobe Premiere CC 2017 version. I have no problems with audio. Sound is there with the file(s). Everything looks good.

Then, when I use the media encoder to change to another format, I get no audio at all. All of my clips from the new ME has no audio.

I have cleaned the media cache from both Premiere and ME. I also re-installed Media Encoder 2017. So far, nothing has worked. Still no audio on files.

Everything was fine with previous version. Any suggestions?

AME ignores AE comp's background color?

When I render MP4 from AE by AME (this is now forced by Adobe) then in comps with background set to White rendered MP4 have BLACK background.

WTF? Anyone else?

I missed something?

Besides rendering now everything 3 times slower with AME (ram preview + slow AME startup + AME render = especially peaceful with 5K footage ) it is now need to make always Solid as background in comps??

Media Encoder CC 2018 Very Slow

I'm having the same issue since upgrading to Media Encoder CC 2018 a few days ago. Previously my 10 to 20 second videos were rendering in no time. Now the exact same videos are taking ages to render or not rendering at all.

For me the main issue is that they take 5 minutes to begin rendering, and I frequently get 'Cannot read from source' errors, or Media Encoder just hangs. Prior to updating the software I had no issues.

Software only or GPU Acceleration makes no difference.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Comps created in After Effects CC 2018, which I updated at the same time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm new to using AME. I'm trying to convert WMV file to FLV. I have 5 files that were all recorded with GoTo Meeting by the same person on the same day. The files were saved to a shared drive. Now when I try to add them to AME to convert them, only two files worked. I received the following error message for the other three:

What can I do to fix this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

I have updated to Media Encoder 2018, but I'm still running Premiere Pro 2017 due to the audio sync issues with 2018.  When I go to add something to the render queue in Premiere I get an error message that Media Encoder is not installed.  I can render from"export," but not from "queue."  Suggestions?

Cannot Find HEVC(H.265) Export Option

When I use Premiere, there is an option to export to HEVC, and at the first time it showed a popup asking install the codec and I clicked yes.

But now I can only find HEVC option in Premiere export menu but cannot find any in Media Encoder.

How to fix this? Thanks.
